Original Item: One-of-a-kind. This is an original WWI Era issue U.S. Navy Junior Grade officer visor cap in naval blue. This cap was worn by officers under the rank of commander: Lt. Commander, Lieutenant, Lieutenant Junior Grade, and Ensign.

This fine cap was made to order by FRED M. BATCHELDER CO., who operated in BOSTON and CHICAGO as UNIFORM MAKERS, as marked on the crown of the cap. This company was well known for fine quality hats and uniforms for all types of organizations, both military and civic. It features a black patent leather covered visor and an embroidered silver bullion American eagle over gold bullion anchor cap badge with a knotted bullion rope chinstrap. The sweatband is made from oil cloth, which is still mostly intact and has a small size 7 1/8 label on it.

The cap is in very good condition with no staining, just a few month nips and the usual wear from age and service. A fine example, ready to display.
